i just saw this thread in passing and have a question. i'm assembling a new system and bought a new lg tv which is great. it reads my daughters sony music player no problem but wont read my zen which is where i want to store all my music. i've connected it to tv with both the usb connection (thats normally used for charging it from a pc) and also witha standard jack connection where the headphones woud normally go, but to no avail. someone said i need an a/v cable for the zen, will this solve the problem?? any suggestions appreciated.

It won't read your Zen, probably because the Zen works only over MTP, whereas the Sony works primarily over MTP - but when that's unavailable it switches to MSC.

The MSC protocol is the more widely used, generic option - it'll work with everything.

Unless LG have issued an update for your TV there's probably sweet F.A you can do.

That said, if all you want to do is play your music through your TV then playing through the headphone jack should work, I've no idea why it wouldn't.

I have a Zen Vision M, and in order to play music, movies or photos on the TV, I have to use a special Creative Adapter. It's not as simple as just hooking it up through the headphone jack unfortunately.

Why not I wonder? it uses a standard 3.5mm headphone jack and all headphones seem to work ok, so what would stop a 3.5mm to 2 RCA lead from working?
