    rationalise the following

    (5wz-12x)/ √x +√y

    how can i solve it ?
    i dont know what they mean by rationalise!

    Are you sure they don't say "rationalise the denominator"? This means you convert the expression to an equivalent one that doesn't have square root symbols in the denominator.

    Hint: what's (√x +√y)(√x - √y)?
