    Afternoon all.

    My phone be broked! :(
Had it jailbroken, and decided to restore it back to factory settings. Tried to do that through iTunes, but I'm not stuck in recovery mode, telling me (on the phone) to connect to iTunes and (in iTunes) it needs to be restored.
I've all the ipsw's downloaded from felixburns, and have tried all the different versions but to no avail. It runs through, and then comes up with an error.

Anyone have any ideas how I can kick her back into gear? Don't want to be sending her back for a replacement, as she's all lovely and Zagg'd.

    Thanks guys.

    Heartbroken in Cork.

I'm always breaking iphones.... Try a couple of things - kick it into DFU with tinyumbrella and try the restore again. Or try it from a different computer. Both of those have rescued me from heart failure in the past.

    Thanks Quackles.
Have tried TinyUmbrella to no avail.
The buddy's gonna bring in his Mac tomorrow so hopefully that'll work.

Other than that, it's the bottom of the river for me!

i had the same happen to me before. Brought it into work with me so i could keep trying in work to get it going. Downloaded itunes onto the work pc and and restored without a hitch. I think it may have been either an issue with itunes on my pc or the internet speed i had at home timing out when trying to connect to itunes store. Did the same for two other firiends of mine over time and again no bother, then they just restored it on their own pc's afterwards and got all their info back. Think a different pc with a fresh install of itunes gave it a kick up the arse :D

If your still having trouble you could uninstall iTunes from your computer then reinstall it and try restore it again. It work for me and you don't loose any of your music etc from your iTunes library.

Its 5am so Im a little hazy on this, I think whats up is if you've used Tiny Umbrella previously your hosts file has been edited, cant seem to lay my hands on one right now but theres definitely guides online about re-editing it.
Basically you gotta find the hosts file & delete any of the lines that mention apple.gs or something like that as theyre causing your itunes to look at sauriks server instead of apples, once you do this you should have no hassle restoring the iPhone

EDIT: Found one...this might be of help:

Thanks for all the suggestions/help lads.

I plugged her into the buddy's Mac this morning, and she sorted herself out no bother. Obviously something up with my iTunes or something. Strange thing is, I've un and reinstalled iTunes, but it still didn't matter.

So I've got her back working now, I've jailbroken her using Redsn0w, and I've added Cydia as a repo. What's my best bet from here (regarding shsh, TinyUmbrella, etc.) since I'm starting afresh?

    Thanks again.

I had similar problems with an ipod touch and I ended up fixing it by using a different USB port on the same laptop. Touchy things these apples.

Cydia probably already has your SHSH on file if you're already jailbroken (and you agreed to it). But to be sure you could run tinyumbrella with the iPhone connected and click "Save SHSH". That should sort you out
