iPhone 4 problems

    Hi guys,

Got an iPhone last week and having a couple of small issues with it, was wondering if anyone here might be able to help.

    1) Email. I've got two accounts set up on the phone, Hotmail and Gmail. With Hotmail, if I get an email notification to my phone and read it, it's marked as read on my phone. But then when I get back to my laptop, it's still marked as unread. It's annoying having to read/delete the same email twice. Anyone have any idea?

    2) Interference with WiFi signal. Since I got the iPhone, the WiFi in my apartment has been flaky. The signal on the AirPort has full bars, but the connection just hangs every 10 mins or so. Once I turn the AirPort off and on again, it's fine, but only for another 10 mins. Very annoying to constantly have to do this.

I got on to UPC and they got me to change the channel, and untick a few boxes in the modem settings, but it hasn't made any difference.

I'm very much a technophobe here, so any suggestions in plain English would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

    1) I think there is a setting on your phone to delete on server when it synch's and also there is a timeframe as to how often it synch's your phone to the server

    2) Try a few different channels if its interference it should solve it. If a cordless phone is close to the router it can cause issues also. has the phone been updated since you bought it?

    Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the reply. I tried that with the setting, but still the same problem. However, I think I've actually managed to fix it by deleting the Hotmail account, and setting the same account up again as a Microsoft Exchange account instead. Apparently it uses a different server?

I've tried changing the channel again on the modem settings, lets see if that makes a difference.

    cheers!

regarding the interference, do you have something that is plugged in all the time like a bug killer or camera spray?

    Hi mihau,

No, there's nothing close to the router that would interfere with it... it's definitely the iPhone that's causing interference, because when I turn it off, my laptop runs perfectly.

I've tried changing the channel from 6 to 7, anyway, so it seems to be OK so far.

    Thanks anyway!
