First Baby - Childcare Options

    Hi All,

    OH is due in March.

Researching childcare options and need advice on couple of things:

    1. Do all creches charge for full 12 months, or is this negotiable? OH is a teacher, so no childcare needed for about 3-4 months a year plus I plan on reducing hours at work to be with child also as I feel this is important, at least in the early years.

    2. How much are Childminders, and in people's experience - are they OK?

    Thanks

    S

usually creches are on a 12 month basis but some can do deals for teachers kids.
Community creches inparticular might be worth talking to as a lot of them have to cut staff for the summer as a lot of their business is people on btea and vtos.

A good qualified childminder is another option and they might like the hours and osme might be happy with summers off others won't.

If you talk to your local childcare committee they can advise you.
