GomTV -- Figure out how to attract more than 10 people to the Code S games

The Code S tours have gathered surprisingly little attention in Korea. GomTV decided to rent out a 5000 seat gymnasium for the opening ceremonies and games -- which was a bold move, considering that the last GSL finals only had 1800 people in a 6000 seat stadium.

The result was nothing short of disappointing. Only 500 people showed up, prompting one netizen to comment "Are there Arbiters present? I can't see anyone in the audience".

It only went downhill from there -- only 50 people showed up for Boxer's Code S matches, and apparently, only 10 or so people showed up for Tester's Code S matches. Whatever GomTV is doing, they need to rethink their strategies and retool how they're going to pull this off, because the initial hype in Korea is slowly turning into disinterest. Since it is up for GomTV to keep SC2 alive in Korea -- please, please, promote your games better.

Very intresting, what could GomTV do to try and boost popularity?

It does seem that blizzard and GOM are trying to create a monoply with SC2, however I would more put the lower popularty down to the style of games being played. It just seems to be 5-7 minute games all the time, the state of play at the moment. Any game over 10 minutes seem to be lopsided to one player were the other person refuses to gg when it is oviouse the game is over.

It's always fun watching a 5 marine hallion scv push, but watching that game after game is just a bit of an annoyance, Hopfully the later rounds of Code S will give a better outcome.

Apparently its -15 over there at the mo and thats the reason no one is going anywhere. Also the shortness of games doesn't help

Hopefully the map change will help fix the short games problem. Custom maps did alot for BW.

well to be honest i watched GSL all the time after work, and i loved it..... now i bought ticket and have watched just a few matches....

the new system is so confusing... i just cba to understand it anymore... If i got a feel for sc2 now i just watch TB or day9 now...

Drop idiotic system in gsl4 and maybe people will be able to fallow it and enjoy again.

the new system is way better to let good players play against good players, in the long run while having the other players have a chance t oget up top.

The old system was terrible were if you had a bad run your out, finished kaput!
