Have you a parking permit or assigned parking? If not you parked illegally and unfortunately are stuck with them. Surely after the first one you could have applied for a permit?

Sounds like you are in an area where there is paid parking. (as am i )

You really should have applied for a permit. I dont think they will let you off the fines because you happened to be outside your house.

Depends where you are, in Cork for example you cannot get a permit if your Apartment building was built after a certain year.

....and, tbh, you should learn to wait for the fact's before making sweeping statements.

A friend of mine has had the same problem - parked outside his house, and they refused to give him a permit, because it was a Toyota HiLux - and they repeatedly put tickets on it.

Long story short, the pile got higher, he got summonses.........and went to court. Judge took on board his (right) to a permit, as a resident, and the Co Co's intransigence on the issue and threw it out of court. Hi-Lux now parked there everyday.

You see, sometimes, the Law (CoCo) IS and ass. And sometime's it's not (the judge in question.....).

    QED.

They wouldn't give him a permit because it was a Hilux? What was the reasoning behind that?

Well CoCo says they will only give permit's to cars. Which is a nonsense. If you live there, and it's your vehicle, that should be the end of it. But oh no, CoCo knew better, and not only dug in, went to court - and incurred all that lovely cost to the ratepayers - they got a slap from the judge as well.

We could do with a bit more of that, tbh.
