I had a a large gap in my front teeth (about 3mm) and had my septum removed at the age of 13. The septum is the join between the upper lip and the front teeth, which in my case was bigger than normal and was causing the gap in my teeth, which is hereditary. This was done under local anaesthetic and was pretty untraumatic. The gap closed to about 1mm in a year or so, and in the years since it has closed to about .75 to .5mm. I must say though, that I now I am sorry I got the gap closed, when I see it on other people I think it looks lovely. I would be proud of it now, it is attractive and unusual, but at that age I guess I wanted to appear the same as everyone else. The procedure cost maybe £150 in 1994 so maybe it is €300 now. Talk to your dentist, I am sure they can offer solutions. If this minor flaw (which is not really a flaw at all) is all that is wrong with your teeth then you're laughing. Braces cost thousands, and involve a lot of pain and goofiness, but although you will have a lovely uniform set of teeth, they will probably have lost a lot of charm.

    Fanks Big G,

The dentist told me it was a septum, which I guess it is, it's good to know the proper name
