Im thinking of driving from Dublin to Galway but I'm not sure how the roads are, especially with the frost. Added to the fact that Im driving a tiny one litre car,I'm considering taking the train instead. Any ideas on how the roads are ??

A bit quiet today but it's worth posting the question there.
There are a few M4 regulars and the odd Galway road user who would post reports when possible.

Generally the M4 from Leixlip to Maynooth can be very bad. Consistently it was turning out to be the worst section of the road during the heavy snow. That would make it liable to that bit extra frost.

Once you hit the Public Private Partnership parts (after Kilcock) the gritting work is more substantial so you should be fine. No major news bulletins about it as far as I know.

temps up around 8c in Dublin, 7c Athlone and 6c in Galway, shouldn't be any issues with the road, the rain will have washed off frost / ice on the main roads by now.

If getting to and from Galway city at any special time is not a big deal, consider one of the €10 fares on the train if they suit you. As it is, the road tolls are almost €10 one way on their own while you'd use as much and more in juice.
