    Hi,

I just got a new laptop and a ASUS RT-N13 wireless router.
I have my pc connected via cable to the router and that is working fine.

My ISP provider uses a PPPoE connection. I can connect my laptop to the router wirelessly (it shows up in the wireless connections on the laptop). But when I try to connect to the internet it wont..

Any suggestions?? where am I going wrong??

    Thanks

so what you're saying, is that the internet connection is fine from your desktop, but not on the laptop? Can the laptop get internet access when it's plugged into the router instead of wirelessly?

Yep, it works fine when connected directly..

The error message I'm getting is Error 651..

I've beeing looking at it on google and there was some errors with Windows 7 when it was first released first giving the above error..

    right, i'm confusssed now.

do you have one or two computers?
    what ISP is it?
what kind of modem is it?
did the isp provide you with a router?
is your new router plugged directly to the dsl line?
    what's plugged into what?

Sounds like your PC is trying to use a dial up connection
Go to Control panel - Internet option -> click on the settings tab and then select never dial a connection and click OK.

See how that works out for you.

    For added info
651 - Your modem (or other connecting device) has reported an error.
Its a DUN error. since you have broadband. You don't need a dial up connection.
