You will have to pay the tuition fees for first year again along the whatever else UCC is charging these days in registration etc. After the 1st year of your new course the government will start paying the fees again. You should contact the fees office to discuss your options. If you leave now you may only have to pay half fees for next year.

Leave before October 31st - no tuition fees to pay
Leave after above and before January 3st - half tuition fees to pay
Leave after January 31st - full tuition fees to pay

    MAKE SURE YOU OFFICIALLY WITHDRAW!!!

If the course you are doing now is slightly similar to the course you want to do in September, and as a result have similar modules, you can apply for an exemption in the new module, and save approximately €500 per module. Although that's provided you have completed a module and most, but not all UCC modules are over the 2 semesters.

Also if you are switching from a Level 8 to another Level 8, you are barred from applying for a maintenance grant, but if switching from a Level 7 to a Level 8 you are not barred.
