Teaching Job Situation - Effect on PGDE

    Hi all,

Just wanted to hear some opinions. With the teaching job situation the way it is at the moment (don't think I need to go into detail ), how do people think it will affect PGDE points for the 2011 intake?

I figured that people would be scared off from applying, so less demand would push points down. Then again, if people realise this, there might be more applications because people think they have a higher chance of getting in.

I have 44 points, so fingers crossed. Would like to hear from you lot.

I think what might bring it down is that this year is the first year teaching experience isn't worth any points so it should drop slightly. 44 would have got you in last year so you should be ok. Impossible to predict really.

They must be announcing results of applications soon anyway.

It says they are processing applications from Jan 15th to April and offers come out then!

DCU will have made their offers by then, as will the UK colleges.

PDGE will not have even started the process, what about trinity.

You would assume they would all try to make offers at the same time. So now if I get offered DCU 2 year I will have to take it incase I dont get offered the other 1 years.

This is such a crazy process.

points will remain high - graduates have nowhere to go, at least with another year in College they can go abroad to fairly good jobs compared to go now with no work experience and the wide job seeking scene. At least the UK and areas of the states are looking for teachers.
    Sorry
