Hi, Myself & a few friends are planning a few days in Amsterdam to celebrate a birthday in June. We need advice on where to stay, not TOO expensive but not roughing it either, please help with any suggestions, anyone know anything about a barge even?

Thanks & Happy New Year to everyone :D

The Hans Brinker Hostel on Kerstraat seems to be a popular spot when I walk past.

Met two guys this weekend who were staying at this hostel - they seemed pretty pleased with it.

Thanks for all your replies. I just looked up St Christophers, 246 euro for a double ensuite room, for 3 nights.... what do ye think? is that a good price?

I've never been to Amsterdam before and I'm heading there in May and I've booked St. Christophers at the Winston for three nights as the The Flying Pig Downtown was all booked up.

I read so man reviews and it seems to come out on top along side the The Flying Pig so I'm happy :D I've also opted for the double private room with en suite so the price is fairly cheap compared to the hotels and it's also better located right in the center :D

That's pretty good I think. Accommodation is fairly expensive in Amsterdam anyway.

Check out The Greenhouse Effect rooms. It's a coffee shop and bar, but they rent apartments too

The greenhouse effect has loads of apartments of different sizes, check out the themed rooms!

Stayed in the flying pig twice, as hostels go it's good.
