Just dropped my iphone 4 on concrete, screen is cracked, what's my best option for repair? Doesn't matter about cost.

Best bet would be to send it back to Apple, especially if it's still under warranty.

I wouldn't bring it anywhere else as non Apple repairs could void the warranty on the phone. I could be wrong on this.

Not sure, to be honest, I'm sure someone will have dealt with them for screen replacements so they'll be able to give you an idea on price.

Some of the shops in Dublin City Centre, around Parnell Street will charge around €75 for a screen replacement, so I'd say if you went directly to Apple, it would probably be over a hundred quid anyway.

Have you got insurance or apple care on the phone?

Ok so it's not the screen but the glass slab thing over the screen that's cracked. Everything works fine except for the cracks. No apple care and I doubt the standard warranty covers accidental damage?

Apple will charge something like €150. I can't remember the exact amount. They'll send you back a refurbished model in a few days which has new cover but used internal components.

No, and neither would AppleCare. Its additional warranty for manufacturing defects, not insurance.

I don't mind paying 150 or whatever it is but not so keen on getting a different handset back..

isnt it 219 or something for an out of warranty repair, i'd sya the only way to get it done and keep the warranty and the same phone is to go to the apple store in belfast

Well I just heard theres a guy in town here that can fix it so i'll try and track him down first and see. So disappointed but I don't regret buying a glass phone because it's so good!

These guys are who 3 send you to if you have any iPhone issues, so I'd guess they're also Apple certified. Maybe not, but seem a pretty legitimate outfit, so worth checking out.

You guess wrong. Not certified by Apple. And from what I've seen of them, I wouldn't give them a brush to repair......

Yeah, just listening to the guy in FoneMenders put me off the place when I needed a Nokia fixed. Best bet is Apple.

if you want, you could repair it yourself for cheap, My friend did the same and he replaceed the screen himself. All it requires is just to unscrew off and screw back on the new one. It took him 10 minutes. Here is a link to some screens. He bought the white one from ebay.

Out of curiosity did you have any bumper or any cover on the phone when it dropped?

Hi Mini, I'd be able to do it but not sure which screen to get. There's a guy in town who does it for €120, he says its €116 for the screen, but those on ebay are like €25?

I presume there's a big difference between these?
