I'm curious about the opinion of the Motors clan on this.

When encountering a hazard on the road how do you warn other drivers of it?

    Flash the headlamps.

Anything else makes you look like your giving an offensive hand signal :D

Flash headlights for people in front, knock on the hazards for people behind.

It depends on the situation in its self really.

If I see a safety camera on the road I assume the road is dangerous and I flash oncoming cars to warn them of this fact.

    Everyone seems happy with this

    Depends.

Either (or even both?) depending on circumstances.

Car's behind me I let them at it because they should see my brake lights... If they left enough room they shouldn't need hazards on to stop in top. I think people putting hazards on to warn cars behind is just stupid.

People coming towards me I flash.

I find it good practice when traffic stops on a motorway as it can be hard in certain conditions to see that the traffic has stopped

Never actually been on a motorway with traffic stopped so can't comment. Always been moving whenever I need to travel on it, which isn't often though.:D

M7 Naas turnoff heading south on a wet drizzly Friday evening around 6pm. Traffic can go from 120kph to 0 in a few hundred yards coupled with the heavy traffic it can be hard to see.

Couple this with the fact most drivers are tired after the weeks work and not their most alert.
