This tv buying is confusing. Im assuming that being 720p is not a problem with a 32'' screen. And this will be ok for saorview? Somebody here says its only mpeg2 but its mpeg4 on uk review sites. Is this as good as either of these which are about €20 more?

Im looking for a bargain here Kev! If i go to €400 thats coming near 40'' prices. This has 1080p and mpeg5 but its €50-60 more. From what i read, you wont notice the difference between 720p and 1080p until you go to 40'' or bigger. Mpeg 5 is digital text, something i could live without if i got a tv with good picture quality at a low price.

You mean MHEG5 for digital text/interactive.

Think you may need it for 7 day programme guide etc on Saorview DTT so, if buying a TV now MPEG4 with MHEG5 is the spec you should be looking at if you'll own it beyond 2012.

Has anybody bought a Sony 32bx300u? Earlier posters here say its not mpeg 4 but another says it has saorview? Its not mentioned on the spec sheet.

The LG 32LD450 has mpeg4 and mheg5 and is €360 so that looks good.

Yes I bought one in Tesco in early december for 349,cheap for a sony, and it is receiving the saorview digital channels crystal clear, cant fault it,plays movies of the usb via a memory stick, theres a button on the remote that lets you switch between digital and analogue,it tuned in all the irish digital tv and radio channels on auto set up,I wasnt expecting that, make sure you select Ireland in the setup menu, this must switch on the mpeg we need!

Like the look of this one, can anyone recommend if it's a good one to go for in terms of price/functions/size?
