On the iPod Touch click the Settings icon then tap the Wi-Fi option at the top of the new screen. Slide the switch to ON. After a while a list of available Access Points will be displayed. Select yours from the list - if you don't know it's name check inside the front cover of the manual that came with the UPC modem.

Once selected you will get a request for the WPA key to access your network. This key is case sensitive by the way so enter it exactly as it's printed. The key is on the same sticker inside the manual as SSID for your modem is printed on. Once entered the iPod will get all the info required for access to the net.

Let us know how you get on :)

The same sticker (with SSID and password) is under the modem in case you've mislaid the manual.

Wow, you must be the most helpful person ever.

And on topic: If you've connected to the same network before, you should select forget network, and then rejoin it. That happens to me when i connect to a network with the same SSID.

You can forget a network by: Settings > Wi-Fi > choose the blue arrow next to the wifi network you wish to join > then choose "forget this network" on top of next page.

Hope this helps. Also, maybe try power cycling the device or upgrading/ downgrading your iOS to see if that works.
