    Hi,

do you know how many miles a skoda octavia 1.9 diesel can do?

My friend knows a 2003 skoda octavia 1.9 diesel with 135,000 miles for sale at somewhere between €3000 and €3500. He said the timing belt has been done regularly.

he said they can do up to 200k or 300k.

how many more years could it do do you think?

They can do 250,000 miles handy but before you buy it check the electrics(especially the electric window motors) and suspension as they can cause issues at around that age :D

+ Ask for proof the timing belt was done and don't be afraid to haggle as even if it's the newer shape 3500 euros is way too much with that milage , try get him down to the high 2000's like 2800e or so, but ofcourse after you actually drive the car and see how it drives or you will just come across as a total twat :p

Also to check the electric window motors get the key when opening it and hold it in the unlock position and watch the windows come down and when all 4 open fully lock it and hold it in the lock position and watch them come up , if all 4 move at roughly the same speed they are fine ;)
