    Hi guys. I currently have ubuntu installed on my computer. I however need to do some windows stuff and would like a dual boot (rather than running it in a virtual box). I go to install windows but there is no space and it can't install on the ubuntu drive as it's all partitioned wrong. Windows needs NTFS. Is there a way of getting some of the unused space from the ubuntu partition to create an NTFS partition so I can install windows 7.

    boot up a live cd of ubuntu, and run gparted

    you can make a ntfs partition from your free space,

    windows will eat grub tho when you install it, youll have to fix the ubuntu entry again after, no biggie tho

    I wouldn't bother making the NTFS partition in GParted, just resize your current partition and leave it unused, Windows installer automatically formats the unused space, so no point doing it twice.

    You will need the free space to be at the beginning of the HDD for Windows ...... from what I can recall which id not guaranteed to be accurate :D
