Hi im in my first year of a business and law degree and im looking for information on how equity affects contract law? There have been no notes regarding given to students and the only book we use is irish business law but that does not elaborate much on the areas of equity in contract law and so im left to google it all which comes up with varied results and documents on different areas whereas i just want something that can explain the ares of equity on contract law . From what ive found so far
equity comes into contract law in the areas of resitution , unjust enrichment , mistake an estoppel. Can anybody point into the right direction of where i can not only read more on this area but where its explained in laymans terms and if there are any other areas that equity comes into contract law? Apologies if ive posted a similar post before but i cant find it if i have.
    Thanks

Hi there, see your post and think I might have a textbook that will help. Its Robert Clarke's latest edition of Contract Law in Ireland. It has great chapters dealing with what you are looking into. Also there is another good textbook Equity Law In Ireland by a lady author who's name escapes me at the minute. Hope this helps. Its a very interesting area. Hope this helps a little.

hi thanks for that ill be sure to pick it up. ill see if i can find a copy in hodges . The book i have is irish business law by Aine Keenan which is a great book i think for explaining some concepts in an easy to understand fashion its just that its quite brief in some areas and has left me struggling as to how i can write up at least 5 pages onthe effect of equity on contract law. i find studying something if i know what i have to study somewhat interesting, My biggest obstacle is the telly but theres noting but garbage repeated on sky so i like to read through the law book each night before bed to keep me up to speed on it all.
Thanks again for the books reccomended.

Paul Anthony McDermott on Contract will do for this exercise and it is readily available in the bookstores and libraries. The book does not focus on equity but it does cover off the linkages quite well.
