Hi folks, Bought a bike the other day second hand. Foolishly i didnt check the front gear shifting when buying it. Took it out for a test ride there and the front deraileur wont budge. Its on the top chain ring now but it wont move. Its a shimano 105, and the shifters just feel very tight when trying to change, but there is literally no movement from the deraileur at all.

    Anyone got any ideas??

Elinimate the cable/shifter as a possible cause:
Loosen off the cable completely and see if you can move the derailleur by hand by pushing it with you thumb to simulate the action of the shifter.
While cable is disconnnected, see if the shifter will move, but dont be too rough with it.

Look up YouTube videos for adjusting the front derailleur if you are unsure as to how they work, and start about a process of elimination to see where the problem lies..................then come back on here

Cheers man, sorted it just there. The deraileur was stuck solid so whacked it with a bit of wd40 and pushed on it with my hands and its working grand. All the parts are a tad rusty have to sort it out!

    Cheers

glad to hear you sorted it out. You might know yourself but don't use the wd 40 on the chain.
