Ring Limerick station 061 315757; they can give you the price for the correct fare. It's unlikely to have any cheap rate as it's a peak hour train but you never know your luck.

FYI get either the 07:35 Limerick-Dublin service; it stops in Newbridge where a train to Carlow arrives at 09:37... OR the 05:30 Limerick Dublin and change at Kildare for a 07:55 service if you need to be in Carlow early.
