Odd interview ending

    Hey!!

Had an interview yesterday which I found to end a little oddly. while waiting to go in I saw two other interviewees go in and come out before me. upon coming out they told me they had been asked to wait. One of the interviewers then came out and gave them each a form and sent them off some place with directions. One of the interviewees said to me he thought it was a medical maybe. After my interview I was aksed the same..to wait outside,.I did..only when they came back out to me..I was not given a form or sent anywhere..just told that I would be contacted mid next week and told if I wished I could get lunch in the hotel where I was being interviewed and charge it to the company. Does anyone else find this a little odd? where were the others sent to that I wasn't? And why send me out of the room to tell me that...

...I am presuming this means I definately don't have the job and that perhaps that is what they were discussing while I left the room. They decided that there was no point in taking it any furthe. I think it was very unprofessional to do whatever it was they were doing with them forms in front of other candidates.

Anybody have any ideas on where the others were being sent?

My guess is a treasure hunt, definitely a treasure hunt.

All joking aside, try not to over analyse things as no one is going to be able to give you the answer.

Perhaps they were given directions of somewhere where they could go to get refreshments as the hotel was not serving food, and subsequentially it was serving food when you left your interview. The form was a food voucher.

Some organisations will pay travel expenses if you travel over a certain distance for interview.

Perhaps they were expense forms to be submitted?

I'm sure its difficult but don't speculate.

They could have been applying for a different position. I've attended interviews for companies before where the interview panel have interviewed for different positions at the same time.

It was def same position..asked the people before me..and one of them travelled from same town as me. They did travel by car tho...I travelled by bus..but when the interviewer came out..she was well in to giving them directions before asking if they had come by car. and why send us out of the room first just to come out for something like that. the interviewers must have been deciding if we were potential candidates. If so I don't find that very fare to make a decision in 2 mins and then to be so unprofessional as o carry out business in front of other candidates waiting.

I'm afraid sometimes people can make these decisions fairly fast sometimes. It all depends on the type of position. Maybe you will get good news this week. Don't be too hung up on it. If you did your best at the interview thats all you can do.
I don't see sending you outside so they can discuss you as being unprofessional.
My advice to you would be keep the head up and be positive and the right position will come along if you work hard for it. Good luck OP

I have never heard of anyone hiring a person on the spot, especially while there were other candidates still to interview.

IF this is what happened, no one was hired on the spot. However, first impressions could have dictated to call the other two for second interview. Depending on the interview and how it's conducted, you can get a VERY good impression of how good someone is for the given position.

I attended an interview recently. Got there early (as usual) They were running late and the guy before me was called in at my time. He was in there for 25 mins. He didn't come back out.

I was called in, the interview went on for only 7 mins. Very few questions asked, when I was asked did I want to add anything, I did my spiel, but they didn't seem to be paying attention. They were only waiting for me to stop speaking so they could ask the final question:

"Did I think the interview was conducted fairly?"

To be honest, I didn't think it was, I felt rushed and ignored but as I didn't want to rock the boat and wanted the job, I said yes.

HERE'S THE KICKER: I later found out that the guy before me got the job, had previously worked on a temporary contract and was made permanent. He doesn't have my qualifications or experience. It was all a sham. Waste of time. I know this happens all the time, but whenever it has happened to me before, the interviewers seemed to make an effort to pretend there was a job.

Maybe she sent them off to the Car Park attendants desk to have the Parking Ticket validated.

Maybe they were offered positions and you weren't. It happens. Different sectors of employment have different ways of hiring.

I certainly have heard of it and seen it myself
