Boring voice

    Hey,

This might seem trivial but it's kinda getting me down and I'd appreciate any help anyone could offer.

Basically I've got a boring voice. I do my best to change the tone/volume etc but if I'm bored by a topic (eg relaying the same story again) I find it difficult, or if I'm in any way nervous.

This might not seem a major issue, but my job requires me to give presentations, and often I see people dosing off in them. Its not the material or my slides - it's my voice.

    Any tips?

In presentations, do less talking and more presenting. Jack Dee has a pretty boring voice but manages to do a good show. Use your voice to your advantage. Perhaps use it to humour the audience. I dont think you should be trying to change your voice, just how you deliver the message.

Have you ever tried Speech and Drama lessons? My friend is a Speech and DRama teacher and teaches a lot of adult's who want to improve their presenting skills.

I used to do speech and drama as a kid but I never thought of it being useful now, but it's a great idea, I must look it up! Thanks!

There are plenty of companies out there than you can go to for professional guidance for presenting. Might make you feel a bit more confident :)
