    THE NAIL BAR

Before deciding on a name, make sure it's not restrictive in any future possibilities. For example, you say a nail bar, but perhaps she would like to offer more services in the future and having a name tailored only to nails (such as Nailz or Tips and Toes etc) may not be suitable then. Also consider a name that would also be a suitable domain name for a website, again planning for the future and to expand on this again, a name that people would actually search for, so maybe something with keywords such as manicure or pedicure or whichever one is for nails, I don't even know if either of them are.

Me? It's 2:19 and I'm about to go to sleep, I wouldn't like to suggest a name without having a longer think about it. I was in the middle of writing my post when you posted your suggestion by the way :)

sometimes thinking of a 'clever' name associated to the product or service is a little pretentious or cheap or been done so many times often it doesnt stand out...

so consider using her own name...yes it might not work if her name is very ordinary like mary murphy but using a name that is interesting like lets say Clodagh French or something and adding Beauty at the end would have lots of appeal i would think...
it would even work as a psuedo name...
after all its all about appeal...and small companies with personal names are subliminally perceived as professional rather than 'have-a-go' as something like 'sparkle' could be..

this reminds me of a hair dressers near me called 'the graduate' i dont know if they are still open but i feel they got the name totally wrong, it suggests 'not very experienced', like im not going to willingfully go to the trainee barber for a hair cut.. anyway im just trying to emphasize what a name can 'suggest'.

Where'd you get your nails done?

'Clodagh French Beauty just off the Main Street..'

Where'd you get your nails done?

'Sparkle Nail Bar just off Main Street...'

which one is going to appeal more to the person who asked?

giving the impression of professionalism, quality and prestige is achieved better in the former in my opinion...

a small company with a personal name also suggests that a person visiting on recommendation by a friend will meet 'Clodagh' themselves and get the same quality work done...a name like 'sparkle' for example does not suggest this..

also who is the target market? if its a group of 21 year olds and under then this could alter the appeal..

    anyway...opinion opinion...something to chew on eh :)
