It's funny that i can shop online and purchase from a country like China,
Pay 10$ for p+p and have the product delivered to my door in 3 days.

Yet if i order something in my own country or from the UK,
I'm lucky if i get the product the same week.. usually 6 or 7 days or more!

Is that proof that our own postal services are messed up or slow or what

I don't mind waiting for something, it'spart of the excitement
    But that's pritty slow

I've ordered something from Germany over a week ago and it's still not here. Very annoying.

Uhm - unless the company you have ordered the package from uses a private courier service to deliver the package to you, then you are likely to be using An Post, so I don't think they're the problem. It's likely to be whoever you're ordering from that is to blame.

Sounds like our postal service is fine. By the time your item gets into Ireland it has taken 1-2 days to get it to your house? Can't complain about that.

Probably more likely that the other companies you talk about take their time in sending it in the post.

I remember when i bought my PS3 from a Chinese company it left China on the Thursday afternoon, arrived in Ireland on Friday and sat in the DHL depot in Dublin from then until the following Thursday because it was the week of a bank holiday over here. This was considered "Express Delivery".

That's the reason we're in a recession and China is going to be the new superpower.

Having worked in a shop that dealt with internet orders I'll offer some perspective. If a shop says online that it will ship in 5-7 working days that's because the desired item is out of stock or unavailable for shipping and as a result the ordered item must be then ordered by the shop from the wholesaler, in a lot of cases located in the UK depending on what type of shop it is. That means the shop must order it from the UK in a lot of cases, get it shipped to Ireland and then ship it onto the customer, a process of usually 5-7 working days.

While if it says delivered within 3 working days that means it's in stock and ready to go, most delivery services take no more than 2-3 days worldwide if the express option is selected. It isn't down to a poor postage service or the "lazy Irish", it's simply to do with the stock available.

I've sold on ebay from time to time and had a parcel arrive to Australia in 5-6 days. But to go from Armagh to Dundalk took nearly a week. The UK post is awesome, the Irish are absolute ****e
