Snapfish is one of those that, at least some time in the past, had a clause in their terms & conditions that made any photo you uploaded to them THEIRS, including transfer of the copyright so you couldn't even make prints yourself without paying them from that point on.
I don't know if this is still in their T&C's, but it's something to always watch out for anytime you're putting photos online anywhere, or ordering prints.

Apologies for opening up an old thread - but I have the same query - I've thousands of pictures and rather than uploading all of them - is there any alternative? For example, send a disk with photos?
Is there any such company that caters for this?
Can I ask OP what did you do??

    Cheers

What kind of prints are you looking for?
    Standard 6x4?

I have not done anything yet. Was in a photo shop in athlone across from dunnes last weekend and was told it would be around 200 euro.

I could be better off printing them myself. Do I need the photo paper and special paper too do.

Would I be using loads of ink?

that all depends on your printer.

if you have a dedicated photo printer (not one of these multi purpose printers which faxes, emails, photocopies ...and it prints too) it would more than likely cost you more than €200 for inks and paper to print 1000 images at 6x4

€200 for approx 1000images is about 5c per image which seems reasonable enough.... do you NEED all 1000(ish) printed .....do you WANT all 1000(ish) printed.

have you gone through them and said .... ok, that one is definate for printing etc etc .

if you really wanted you could get a couple of those digital photo frames and have the images changing to display all of your images.

EDIT going back to your original question - most companies will accept images on a disk - but it will take time for the disk to get to them and for them to print the images, shops in Ireland will print from CD.

In fact thats more like 20c a print which is VERY expensive considering the number of prints.. shop around...

I think you should check on the Internet as there are many websites which offer such printing options online. I love using Albelli as they offer lot of options for canvas printing, photo album and photo gifts.

Yeah, 20c per image is a rip-off, given the number of images being printed.
I'd expect to get it at 5c per image.

I agree with PCPhoto though, it's mind boggling that someone would want 1,000 images from their holidays. I find it very hard to believe their all different enough to warrant printing. Just my opinion.

Photobox.ie charge 6c per print for orders of 500 or more. They currently also have an offer of free shipping with all orders of €10 or more.

I'm no good with maths, but that's what... €60 for 1,000 prints? That's not too shabby at all.

Just came across this thread and as someone who is involved in the photofinishing industry I have comments on the various printing options available.
Most of the online providers "scale" files to suit their busy servers, so your 6x4 print may look fine but if you flat scan later you will get a more pixelated enlargement.
All of the online providers use silver halide roll paper that is unique to them - it is 50-60% lighter than the papers that the franchise Kodak Express and Fuji Digital Centres are mandated to use (It is worth comparing a "Harvey Norman" (on fuji paper)print to one from a standalone Fuji shop)
The old adage still rings true - You get what you pay for
In this digital age you only print what you need and therefore print quality is the most important thing.
