Apple iPhone 3GS (Broken Glass) Repair Service

The glass of my Apple iPhone 3GS has cracked but other than that the unit is in working order. A quick Google returns many links to iPhone spare parts and DIY repairs. However, I also came across iPod Rescue (http://www.ipod-rescue.com/) based in Galway. They offer:
    - Brand New iPhone front glass digitizer touch screen and LCD screen: Parts & Service €100
    or
    - Brand New iPhone front glass digitizer touch screen: Parts & Service €65

    Not including €7 P&P

I am wondering if anyone has had any dealings with iPod Rescue or replaced the glass of their iPhone - What are your experiences?

All advice or guidance greatly received.

Friend of mine had brought his phone to one of the shops on Parnell Street to get his iphone 3 screen fixed. It cost a total of €65 and it's still going strong.

You'll probably hear a mixed review about the shops around there, but if it's out of warranty, it might be the cheapest option you have.

Where a bouts are you based?

Im based in Dublin so Parnell Street is a good option. Do you know the name of the shop by any chance?

Not sure, but I know you can haggle them down a bit if you try. Check out a few of them and get a price I suppose.

I'd say they're pretty much nearly all the same.

You can buy the part on ebay for less than 20 quid, and installing it is a piece of pi$$. theres only 2 screws to get it out.

have you actually changed a glass on an iphone?
I think you confuse it with the screen.:P

    Yes, I have.

Lets not make it sound harder than it is. Getting the screen out of the main body is about as hard as it gets. removing the glass from the screen etc can hardly be discribed as a "difficult" job.

getting the screen out is easy, but he has a damaged glass not a damaged screen ;)

Yes, i can see that. removing the screen is the first step of this. this is exactly how its done,

Done a 3G the weekend got the glass of eBay for 15 euro all in. It took me about 45 min but that was taking my time as the phone was not mine.
A little more then two screws but all in all handy to do. Just go with the YouTube video.

I've used Ipod-rescue.com for a couple of things now, An ipod classic repair and a new front screen for an iphone 4. I sent both off on a Monday and had them back before the weekend. I was happy with both Jobs. They have a feedback guestbook with customers comments so I guess thats probably the best place to look for recommendations.
