Poor ould Brian never seems to capture the publics imagination. Look at the way people are interested in Casey-Rigo but Magee slides under the radar.

Good luck to him. His style is right for Bute but Magee is no idiot and knows all the 'tricks of the trade' in the ring.

#he did not get catch the public eye 10 years ago, so the hiding he will take in canada will not get anyone excited, hope he earns a load of cash fair play to him for sticking at it

Pity. Is there any talk of this been shown on domestic tv in any way shape or form?

Its unfortunate a certain Mr. Harry Hawkins won't get recognition for a fighter he has predominantly produced.

I dont think anyone will forget the years that Harry put in, but if you are going to fall out with a fighters manager then usually something has to give!

it seems to me he's just very happy to get the fight, but knows deep down he can't win this fight.

nice one for findin this thread. seen somewhere 11.10pm eastern time, so add 5 to that - 3.10am, 240 to be safe.

froch reckons magee will do this, he reportedly looked seriously weight-drained yesterday, but worryingly there are two canadian judges --- jean pascal hopkins fight comes to mind.

Its going to be hard to get a result over there alright. Hopefully he will put up a good fight.

BBC1 showing the fight at 10:45 tonight.

My god, Bute looks two weights bigger than Magee...

Bute is a class act, and seemed to be carrying Brian. It was man against boy in there. I thought at times that Bute could have really opened up and destroyed Brian, but he seemed content to stay two steps ahead throughout.
    The size difference was unreal

thats funny cos much of the talk beforehand was about bute being weight-drained!

american commentary was interestin on setanta - they kept referring to the one-dimensional european style of guard and lack of emphasis on bodyshots, maybe a reason for limited success. magee didn't offer much beyond that.

He tried his ass off, but Brian is simply not world class. The guy is 38 or so, and was never a threat on the world scene. Very little power as well, and that is almost essential at these weights.

Bute makes for some tasty scraps with Froch and Ward and some other world SM fighters.

Magee lasted longer than I thought he would. He is tough but that's all he has going for him really, in terms of boxing skill he has always been below world level. Anyway Bute is likely to be fighting Kessler next.

I always thought Magee was 37/38.

    35 he is....

He was one dimensional though I don't think it's the European way to headhunt. He did well enough considered how good Bute is...

Would it be fair to say though that Bute has not really been tested at the highest level yet?

No, he has not been fully tested. Unless you wanna' list a past it Miranda?

He has not met any of the top SM fighters from the super 6.

Ring have Bute at 2 I think. Ahead of Kessler and Froch.

He did beat Bika; but so did others. Bika is a hell of a tough fighter.

I do think that he would be a very tough guy to beat for
Ward and Froch and the others. He can box so well.

Bute has some really good skills, he has a wicked uppercut.

I wanna see him fight a counter puncher though, I think Ward would give him fits. Dirrell may even pose him some problems although he beats Dirrell.

Bute looks extremely classy when his opponent is walking him down.

He had the opportunity to join the Super Six and declined it, he needs to fight 2 or 3 of those guys...
