Hi, my desire is not showing as connected in WMP.

It is coming up on the laptop when connected as disk mount.

When i first plugged it in, it came up ok, then it didnt. No idea what happened.

I want to get music etc onto the droid, but no device is showing.

    Any ideas?

can't you just put your music in the Music folder when it's connected as Disk Mount?

Is it showing up in windows first when you plug in the USB? If not remove it from the devices list and plug in again and see if it reinstalls the drivers.

forgot to add - do you have HTC Sync installed. I think(?) it won't show up in wmp if this is not installed.
