Insurance issues I'm coming up against

I've had 2 classic cars without any issues however I had a nasty surprise when I went to get some quotes today.

My quotes went sky high due to the fact that I only have one full years no claims bonus, there wasn't an issue when I had non

If I try one of the online quotes systems I get declined as I had a crash and my car was stolen (1 month apart).

Anyway I tried Carol Nash and a few others and all declined to quote due to the NCB situation.

Does anyone know if this is now the way it is and if I'll just have to put my next classic through regular insurance even though it will be rarely used?

Axa quoted me but it was the same as regular classic insurance. 1 car is over 32 years old the other is registered in 1995.

can you transfer your road car policy for the odd weekend? The trouble with that is that your car is un-insured and not protected in case of theft or fire.

Some companies won't let you transfer your insurance to another car thats in your name to stop folks doing this and some charge you per transfer so don't think that idea is a runner for most

It would work indeed for me but I would hope to use the car every weekend which I know the broker wouldn't be too happy about

    Try http://www.campionins.com/

I got my classic insurance with them for next to nothing and all I has to do was join a classic car club.

    Total cost was €150

Best bet is to ring them and see what they can do for you

    Thanks for the link above.

Campions are being very helpful so hopefully I'll know in the next few days if a reasonable quote can be gotten.

    I got on very well.

They are happy to quote me at the standard prices even with my previous claim.

Very nice guys and very happy to deal with enthuasiastc.

Now I just have to find a nice car.

If anyone is selling something, preferably grade 2 condition (usable classic but not for the concours) send me a PM and I'll consider it.

Budget is mediocre so nothing expensive:D

    FYI
AXA do a lying up policy which is a lot cheaper obviously.........
