Switching over from **Free to Air** to *Freeview HD**

    Have the silvercrest sl 65 from lidle and standard dish that came with it for a long time so I figured it was time for an upgrade so...

    I recentally purchased a T2 HD Zapbox the other day and thought it would be as easy as open the box and put the aerial cable from the back of the free to air box in the new freeview HD box. Thinking I could pick up the BBC and ITV in HD as I could already pick up the SD version of the channel on the free to air box.

    But after I connected the new HD freeview box it's not picking up any stations under the 22-66 UPC stations the box scans for.

    Do I need a new dish to pick up the HD stations?

    or am I doing something wrong?

    The T2Zapbox is a terrestrial digital Freeview box and unsuitable for your purpose, the box from Lidl is a satellite receiver.

    You need a Freesat HD box.The only use the other box is if you live on the East Coast and have an aerial pointed towards England, connect that to it to receive the Freeview channels. The box should also pick up Irish Saorview DTT service.Best to bring it back and get a proper Freesat HD box if that is what you're looking for.

    Freeview/Saorview= Terrestrial (via aerial)

    Freesat/FTA=Satellite (via dish)

    @zerks

    thanks for clearing that up for me

    sent the T2Zapbox back to amazon today

    can I pick up the RTE1/2 TV3 TG4 in HD on the Freesat HD box or will I need another box for that?

    Do I keep the direction of the dish on the roof in the same direction directed towards the astra 23.5 for HD on the Freesat HD box?

    You wont be able to recive any Irish channels on Freesat
    Astra 28.2 east For freesat channels
    If the dish you have is from lidl you would be better to get a good robust dish and wall bracket fitted any of these http://satellite.ie/acatalog/Dishes.html would be perfect

    For Irish channels via an out door Aerial you will need a TV with an Mpeg4 decoder or a Saorview set top box like this http://www.powercity.ie/?brands=WALKER&pages=1&par=10-23

    If the Lidl dish is working I wouldn't change it. They are not the most robust of dishes but if it aint broke don't fix it.
