Limit screw on my front mech has seized and I'd really like to be able to access the big ring. Anyone have any ideas on how it might be released?

Lots of gt-85 wd-40 or similar on it and hope it gets into the threads, problem is the screw head is soft metal and distorts easily when you force it...

option might be to take it off the bike and bathe it in oil for a while, it'd doing nothing if you cant get the big ring anyway (presuming its a double chainset)

Option after that is some heat on it to expand the metal and free the screw, good luck!

A quick idea, is to try to tighten the screw just a little and then loosen it, then tap down on the screw (by tapping lightly!!! on the handle of the screwdriver (if that's what you are using) with a small pice of timber or something light like that)).

This can help release the threads but you will probably still need to spray for a while with a suitable releasing agent e.g. WD40 etc.
