Would this put you off a car

A car with a new NCT but it is only for 8 months due to the fact that the car had been driven for 1 year & 4 months by previous owner without a test. Does that sound dodgy? Makes you ask questions but if the car only past it's Nct then the regular joe would assume the car is in reasonable condition..

It's a 99' 318i with 128k myself and a friend are going out to view in the morning. It's been sold by an elderly man who had it only a few months. He bought it off a pensioner who had it for 8 years previous and sold it without an Nct to him.

It's a 2k car but not a cheap car to fix if anything should go wrong with it. I know very little about BMW's in general and don't want my friend buying somthing that could be problematic.

Would you bother viewing it or give it a miss?

    Thanks

NCT thing wouldn't bother me at all except I'd wonder did it also miss servicing for a year or two. e36s (or whatever they called them 3 series) don't do it for me at all though, if it was well cheap I'd still be tempted though.

Costs nothing to look unless it's a bit away.

It's the newer e46 shape. 2 previous owners.

2 grand is not too bad, but eh

    what about a mondeo...hehe

    :pac:
it would be more nippy than the 318 and probably more reliable also

but 2k for the bmw is not too bad, they are comfy and a fine drive

I'd be a lot more interested in the service history myself.

He said the service history was misplaced by previous owner. He only has receipts for NCT and some suspension bits he had changed.

Now that sounds dodgy. Given that neither of you has the expertise to judge a car with no SH, i'd pass.

€2k seems alot for a 12 year old example. This one is 2 years younger, has a longer NCT and a service history. Might be worth the extra money:
