Went up as far as Decathalon yest and got me a workstand. £50.http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/bike-workstand-53433343/
The pic does not do it justice. It is very sturdy-very big. Wouldnt be sure about it in a house or apt!! I put it together in 10-15mns.
Its on sale at the min and certainly worth £50-€60

Looks great, whereabouts are they? Is there a store in Newry?

I wouldn't travel for Decathlon myself, cycle super store is better in my opinion.

Decathlon (next to Ikea in Belfast, just google for the location) are good for some stuff but don't have any expertise in repairs or a wide range of components. Big store but do all sports, so no real specialist knowlwdge in anything specific.

Last time I was up I dropped in looking for 700c tubes with longer valves - no chance, not even stocked. Great prices on some items like socks, track mitts, and their b-twin equipment looks good value for money.

Not really worth a special trip up. However, if you ventured to CRC in Ballyclare and Slane Cycles (dead easy off the M1) and make a day trip it would be worthwhile. CRC for bling, Slane for good kit and top brands, Decathlon for better value/lower end stuff.....

Cycle Superstore are miles ahead in cycling expertise, bigger ranges in everything cycling than Decathlon.

I have to say I love Decathalon. OK not specialist in anything but usually have a great range of bikes. Speaking to (I presume some lower management) a guy yest about ordering a surfboard and he said that the store has sold 2000 bikes since they opened 10months ago. The B'Twin range is indeed a great range. I know my 11 yo wants a road bike and the range up there is great. I know the shop local argument......
As for the trip up..is it worth it for a trip to Decathalon alone .....I'm not sure but it really depends on where you are coming from. But with Newry now completley bypassed its easier then ever with a fairly straight run around Belfast CC to George Best Int Airport (Ikea etc is situated right beside the airport).
