Eyeshadow Primer

Hi, I know that the most recommended eye primer is urban decay primer potion, but I was just wondering how does it actually enhance the intial application of eyeshadow??
I have an elf eyeprimer, it works okay. But it's not very good for making the eyeshadow come out stronger on my eyes. I used to use a sticky concealer or 8 hour cream to get a really strong colour for going out, gives much more colour initially but then fades a lot by the end of the night.

So basically I'm asking does anyone know an eye primer that'll make the lid 'tacky' so the colour comes out stronger, but still lasts ages?

Well I used both the Urban Decay and the Gosh eye primer...

Urban Decay: goes on light with the wand, feels like nothing is there, it takes the eyeshadow really easy, and stays on for ages, I never need to reapply my eyeshadow unless I've been rubbing my eyes. I wore it to a wedding and applied it at 11.30am and when I went to bed that night it was still the exact same as it was the morning I went out.

GOSH! - doesn't come with a wand, it's a bit greasey when you put it on, I can feel it on my eyes. When I put the eyeshadow on, my brushes get dead greasy and it's really difficult to blend at the end. For lasting effect it works but sometimes it cakes if I've put on too much eyeshadow and it's a bit difficult to blend at the end TBH.

I'd go with Urban Decay. You know you can get it on Aer Arann flights for only €11! They also sell it in Blanch SC for €14.50.

Little tip if you want the strongest pigment - when using a brush to apply eyeshadow, I dab my eyelid bit by bit carefully so it grabs most of the pigment and the dust. I never actually brush or rub the eyeshadow cos I find it takes away the pigment and leaves a mess. Only time I brush/rub is at the end when I'm blending.

I know how to pack on eyeshadow, but it's very hard to get loose pigments on as dark as I'd like, and to keep it on. There's always the risk of fallout no matter how careful I am.

How do people get fine loose glitters also to stick, should I layer it over a cream eyeshadow of the same colour??

    What shop in Blanch?

You could probably get loose glitter to stick using a wee bit of Vaseline.

I love Two Faced shadow insurance. I found that it made the colours very vibrant and I seem to be using it lots more than Urban Decay Primer Potion.

The Urban Decay primer is great especially as it feels like it's barely there. As Donegalgirl said you can find it cheaper in some places!

Is it slightly sticky at first? Just I have ELF primer which suits me fine for most eyeshadows, but it doesn't help things stick to it!

What's the consistency like on Catrice?

MAC do a great one. I would only ever use it if I was going for smokey eyes or some other strong eyeshaddow combo. I got my one around two years ago and it's still going strong- a little goes a long way

I think you're looking for mac mixing medium OP, it's a 'primer' for glitters and pigments, basically it's like a clear wax you put on your eyelids that pigments and glitter adhere to

    http://www.temptalia.com/mac-water-based-mixing-medium-review-photos

If you're near Dublin MAC in brown thomas will, no problem normally, give you a sample (which'll last months) to bring home

You can also make your own (as the mac stuff is stupid spensive)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbKmWd_FlpI

and you can pick up glycerin in most chemists, just ask at the counter (it's a base for a mild soap, loads of people with skin conditions would buy it in a chemist)

I use the Gosh Eye Primer and find it good, I recommend it. I find it makes the eye-shadow last longer.

    This one:

I also have this, the eye-shadow base, and find it good and it add's some glitter/sparkle to the eye-shadow.

    Hope this helps.

This is to Shmatter who made the request about how to get loose powders or glitters to stick. I got a glitter last year to wear to my twenty first in MAC and they do this little pot of eyeliner, but its cream eyeliner and comes in many colours and I found that to work really well! Cant remember the name, sorry.

They're called Paint Pots. They're really good if you're using the MAC Pigments too.

This is the best eyeshadow primer I've ever used. It makes all the glitter stick and metallics look foiled over it. Even Urban Decay's glitterbomb like Uzi and MCRA are useable over it.

I use it over UDPP, as it doesn't stop creasing, which UDPP does. There's some swatches here which show how much difference it makes.

They're not taking orders at the moment though, they're trying to sort out their backlog of orders from christmas.
