    Hi all,

Just thought I'd let everyone know, organising a mini music festival for galway city for the end of may 2011.

Main stage and a dance tent. The aim is to promote galway original bands with a mix of bigger irish names, such as coronas or delorentos.

Plan is for 2000 with the option of over night camping.

Venue is still up in the air, but hope to finalise in the next week or so.

Trying to think of irish bands similar to the calibre of the delorentos. Can you think of some.

Check out fran fest on for more info

Jody Has A Hitlist are a great band from Belfast.
Also Florence and the Machine would be great, although they're English.
The Cranberries and Damien rice would be fantastic too.

Do you have any idea what the ticket prices will be? And will it be an over 18s event or can 17 year olds go like Oxegen? I'm very interested and will go if it's a 17s event.

Aren't Jody has a hitlist from Dublin?

God is an astronaut would be a good booking.

You're right, just looked at their facebook page and it says "HOMETOWN: Dublin".
I always assumed they were from Belfast 'cause p0d is!

Can't go wring with most of these acts only thin I they play in Galway a lot. Still if your offering a dance tent ad it's reasonably priced.

Franfest Music and Arts fetsival is to take place on May 21st 2011.

Venue will be released in coming weeks. We had planned on doing a two camping style event, but have decided on a one day festival instead.

Three stages, Over 25 acts ranging from galway lads to international acts.

    Stay tuned!

Great idea, best of luck with it and hope it becomes an annual event.
