I'd be well P1ssed off to be honest! Maybe a preseason game or something

If they wanted to run some pre-season tournament out in Abu Dhabi of about 4 good european teams that's fine, but they can go fúck themselves if they think I'm going to Abu Dhabi to watch Leinster V Munster, greatest 3 matches I've been to in the last few seasons were all Leinster Munster derbies, in Croker, the RDS and Lansdowne. You'll rarely get the atmosphere and emotion you get at that derby.

It's going to take a lot more than a one off game to spread Rugby and the simple fact is outside of Europe people wont have a clue if they're watching 2 giants or small league teams.

If we had an equivalent of an LV Cup then I wouldn't mind a Munster/Leinster clash in it being moved abroad. But certainly not a Magners League or god forbid a H Cup clash.

From what I heard, the Wasps ST Holders got a pretty sweet deal out of this anyway.

Why not move the H Cup final abroad once in a while? It has to be abroad anyway, and I'm sure it would be worth more to the unions involved?

    ?

    Not bad...from the Wasps site;
The club understands that some supporters will be disappointed that the game will not be played at Adams Park and therefore will hold an exclusive club open day at Adams Park later this season. This will give Season Ticket Holders the chance to meet the squad, coaches and staff and watch training. Full details on this day and how to register your attendance will follow in the near future

Think the HC final might be a good candidate for this sort of thing, though for the record, I'm not a fan...bringing it to Italy/Spain might be good. A HC final in the San Siro/nou camp would be good.

Give it to Italy before we start a nonsense tour of the world.

NFL Europe didn't help the spread of American football over here in any great way. All stars tours to America,Canada and around the world haven't help Gaelic sports in any great way either . These are money making exercises or in the case of the GAA a means to give the players a Holiday

Well the NFL games in Wembley have been sold out the last couple of seasons. Two American NFL teams playing mid season games has been a great success.
Lets face it this Wasps v Quinns is about cash. Nothing more and nothing less.

A great success in that they made money but a success helping to grow the game?

Both. And the teams that have done all the travelling have even shown signs of improvement on their return. The NFL is more popular in the UK and Ireland now than ever before.

I don't think it would be terrible to follow their lead. But we could just hold the rugby world cup in the USA or give it to Spain/Portugal

The NFL maybe more popular but unlike Rugby's natural growth over the past few years. The game has seen little growth on the ground

I read an article, I think posted in this forum, last year that suggested a HC semi-final weekend in Barcelona, Madrid, Milan, Rome, Munich or Berlin... Basically anywhere not too far from here or France. Satuday: semi-final 1; Sunday: semi-final 2.

Wouldn't like to see Leinster v Munster in the middle east, though. A preseason round robin among the winners of the Magners, Aviva, Top 14, Currie, and ITM in Abu Dhabi whould be cool, though.

Speaking of, we could do high profile exhibitions in new markets - 6N all stars vs. 4N all-stars, HC winner vs Super 15 winner

It is one of my rugby dreams to see Leinster wipe the floor with the Bulls but probably won't be able to happen because of the already too long seasons.

I would have thought the bulls would wipe the floor with us(Leinster). It would be some game though. I love watching both teams when they're at their best.

In terms of playing numbers? Nope. But people watch it, and that generates money for the sport in America.

All I want is money.

Think its *****. If I was a season ticket holder I would not consider an open day (which I may nor not be available for) a sweet deal. I'm extremely sceptical that this will expand the game beyond the ex-pat community. As for Munster/ Leinster matches didn't the judiciary decree them to be of vital significance to the survival of the nation( publicans). If the Limerick publicans can get the pubs open on Good Friday surely precedent ensures they or their Dublin counterparts can insist on home matches.

That said wouldn't object to pre- determined HC or ML matches being held within Europe for knock-out matches or for out of season exhibitions taking place further afield

What is the point of playing a low key English domestic cup game so far away ? How many are expected to watch this?

I think one of the articles said 5000, in a specially constructed arena within the airport - not sure about that last bit, sounds a bit stupid now that I type it :D
