I want to fit a motorised valve to to prevent oil burner heating solar tank when not required so basically i want to bypass until the tank needs to be boosted. i need to drain the central heating, it is a presurised system (by water mains) do i just drain it at the vale on top of boiler? and turn on water mains to refil?

You'd be safer getting a plumber to do it op, if you're having trouble with this.

Generally you drain off the system at a low level. But I agree with Fingers you would be better getting the professional for the little it would cost.
Also Boiler and Solar combinations usually have isolation controls in place.
    Check with your installer.
