I heard the CEO of the Health Insurance Authority on the radio yesterday talking about the VHI rise. A person from the eldery action group also referred to them on the news but said that they had no authority to regulate prices.

I see from their website that they give out information on prices etc but surely there is no need for a seperate authority for this?? Is it another Bertie era quango?

Everyday I seem to hear of another state body I've never heard off before. Im sure an existing entity like the competition authority or the financial regulator (who as far as i know regulates other insurance markets like home, car, etc) could take on these roles.

I think its time for a bonfire of the Quangos like what is happening in the UK at present.
