AUDI Engine problems Oil Pump/Balance Shaft failure?

I searching the net for timing belt kits and I randomly came across these threads:

Apparently affects high milage 2.0TDI with engine code BLB. From reading the posts people have experienced this between 80k and 110k miles. I had a main dealer service about 5 months ago and they never mentioned anything about it.

To solve the problem you have to change from a chain driven oil pump to a gear driven oil pump. This requires replacement of the entire oil pump assembly which includes the balance shafts and oil pump.

Does anybody know about this?

Spoke to Audi in Cork today and their mech said he had never heard of it. The failure makes sense i.e. the plastic tensioner, but its NOT endemic or a known fault with the engine apparently.

Just the BLB engines effected ?


Edit: Just reading there - seems to only affect 2005 audi,passat,skoda - must remember not to go near a 2005 2.0TDI
