Hi, I'm a 25 year old female trying to plan something to do when my job finishes in March. Most of my friends are ties here or already away so looks like I'll be heading alone. Only planning to go for 3/4 months as I teach and hope to try get something back here in September again. I've been considering oz, S america, new york, or toronto.. any ideas where would be good and anyone out there headed alone?
    Thanks

I'd highly recommend South America. I LOVED it, would go back in a heartbeat. Did some of it on my own and some of it as part of a tour. There's spo much to see and do.
To be honest, you can do NY and Toronto at any point, backpacking is something to do while you're young.

Go for it, you won't regret it

well if i was you i would get a flight to bangkok and explore south east asia, there is so much to see and do in the great country's there, you have thailand, cambodia, vietnam, loas which are all easy to travel and when you arrive there you won't be alone for long as it's so easy to meet people who you will end up travelling with for a while.

Both South East Asia and South America are great. I would agree with doing the backpacking when you're young, I was in a hostel lately and the older people were getting strange looks (and they complained about the noise). I really think it's something you have to be young to tolerate!

ALso India, I'll be heading there again in July - fantastic country.

Yeah I have a few months to spare too so I'm off to South America next month travelling by myself, reading this forum there's so much to see and do that its an obvious choice.
I've been all over Oz already backpacking and while its great its definately not cheap to keep going for a few months. SA i expect will be a good bit cheaper in most of the countries, with just brazil, argentina & chile requiring a bit more money.
