    Open to suggestions guys.

i've been browsing the net all night for a suitable replacement for my auto glym HD wax, im just curious what others are using.

price within reason no object, neither is workability, im purely chasing longevity of protection

    blow my mind :P

Presume there's many more experienced people here but I found a combination of Car Lack 68 topped with either Collinite 845 Insulator or Collinite 476s to be the best. Not the easiest to apply but once it's on it's there for a long time. I waxed the car in late nov before the first cold snap and the effect it had on snow lying on the car was unreal, a gentle push and everything glided off the bonnet. If you pre-treat the car well (e.g. clay & Car-Lack) the results can be amazing. Water usually beads noticeably for >4 months.

its just flat white, non metalic.

i've seen bilt hamber being mentioned on detailing world a lot, it seems to have a great following, but i just cant keep up with that site, they are all nuts lol.

    have you tried it yourself?

edit : i find the AG very hard to 'wax off', takes loads of effort to get it streak free. i know i said that wasnt a priority, but ive never encountered anything like the HD wax for bother

    Aha,,
The good old flat white paint..
Hardest color to get a shine on.

    I have a white car,
Currently i am using 2 chemical guys products

    After washing/drying etc.
(assuming paint is free from tar etc. I use
Chemical Guys P40 > Polishes and prepares the paint
Then I use Chemical Guys Blitz > Spray on acrylic sealer.
Brilliant combinatipon if I say so myself.
Easy on...Easy off.. I will never agin go through the hard labour of waxing.

I am awaiting an order at present from Detailer.ie.
2 new products I want to try and from what I hear are well worth their money.
I will post when I get them and try them
But for now I would suggest the 2 products I use.
I know my car is new but here is a couple of pics of the finish I got with these.

Car-Lack 68 - more commonly known as Klasse in the US

    Collinite 845 Insulator

    Collinite 476s

If I remember correctly, I think the bloke is located in Navan. I know they might seem expensive, but a little goes a very very long way. As an example - I know someone who has been using the same 9oz tin of 476s for the last 6 years and there's still a couple oz's left.

I've tried a lot of different carnubas and polymers (inc. Turtle, Meg's etc) but to be honest given our climate I wanted the most waterproof car I could make with a nice finish :D. A combo of the wax above plus a decent Rain-X on the windshield and you'll be driving between the drops...

    Thanks,
I should mention that the products I use are available from Detailer.ie
    and
    Cleancar.ie

    And NO,
I am not associated with any of them

serious chunk of a car there anyway :).

its showing up a great reflection though for white in bad lighting.

did you find the acrylic based products any better than carnauba based products in that i read dust etc. is supposed to be less inclined to cling to it?

i know i 'heard' lots of things, but i previously read a thread on another irish site that detailer.ie was very hard to get in contact with and was a bit shoody serivce wise?

learned it all from my daddy :) but he is getting on now.... can't take on the 'call out hours' not with 3 kiddies :) maybe once they are older. I love it tho, its always a challenge, yerra it keeps the mind active! I was always mad for cars but especially trucks, and once i was allowed to drive my first truck i was bitten by the bug :) but like i say, can't go into it full time till lil ones are older :) and yes, I do like to watch ice road truckers! lololol

well you know the phrase 'less than 3 should never be' so leaving 3 kids on thir own should be grand in theory

10 out of 10 anyway for effort and breaking the 'girls cant do cars' stereotype :)

i wish i was an ice road trucker

I use carlack 68 with nattys poorboy wax on top. Doesn't seem to stop the car getting dirty, but keeps its shine even when filthy!

I'm right here... my mobile phone number, office phone number, address, e-mail address are all on the website. I've been going for three and a half years now, so I'm obviously not that hard to get in touch with :p

There are one or two people who shout and scream on the internet about not being able to get me on the phone. They're usually people who ring on private number and don't leave a message for me to call back, or sometimes they will leave a message and not give me a number. I can't answer the phone every minute of every day (if a customer is standing with me, if I'm working on a car etc), but I will call you back if I miss you.

If you're in Dublin, feel free to call in for advice if you need it. I've a few options here for white cars. We sell products to suit all budgets.

    Example

    Yes indeed.
Great reflection off the Blitz., Hoping for better off the next products I have ordered

Last car I had was black and used to go to the bother of waxing it ( Harly Wax ) and actually did notice it was like a magnet for dust... strangely enough, I do notice little or no dust on this one with the Blitz.
Also, I actually gave my car a coat of blitz out in the open this week.. No need for hot weather like you need for waxing,

    As for Detailer.ie.
Well I was about to say there is no problem contacting him, I did read the thread you mention on detailingworld but take no notice of it. He is a busy man.

    Wash > Clay > Blacklight > Hybrid V7.

I think I will attack my wheels/tyres today instead

let me know ASAP when you are ready to ship out to me..

Not shoddy at all. You have to remember that Andy is working on cars every day and getting them ready for customers. If he was to answer every phone call, a 2 day job would turn into a 3 day job.

Also, if he's talking to someone in person, he won't answer the phone. This is so the customer he is dealing with gets his full attention which, in my opinion is how it should be everywhere.

I ordered a foam lance and hyperwash from him before christmas and I had them the next day. Nothing at all shoddy about that ;)

I wouldn't mind trying out that clay stuff, makes sense. I use Autoglym Super Resin at the minute, but starting to feel like like I could go up a level. I lilke to keep the Super Blackbird Super Shiny, but might try it on the road barge too.
Is there anywhere bricks and mortar on the North Side / Drogheda that has decent products. I hate halfrauds, but will head there if there's no other choice.

That AG SRP has no real longevity.
Make it worth your while and go the extra mile to Andy at Detailer.ie
    Get some proper products.
if you cant get to him, he also does a delivery service.
You will be glad you did

Clay has its place but Iron Cut or Iron X is even better. You spray it on and it turns contaminants purple, then rinse it off. It can be used on paint, glass and clearcoated alloy wheels.

was using the autoglym HD myself until recently but bit the bullet and bought some " Swissvax Best of show ", bit pricey but gets rave reviews

The Swissvax Onyx gets very good reviews and costs about the same as the HD or dodo juice supernatural is supposed to be good for similar money aswell

all available at either detailer.ie or cleancar.ie. i have bought from both and never had any problems
