Would anybody know of any clubs/groups in the Cork/Munster area that are into outdoor sports?

I'm a mid-30's singleton hoping to get into outdoor sports of any kind and hopefully meet like minded people.

I'd interested in any or all activites of:
kayaking/walking/climbing/cycling/surfing but none of my friends are interested in assisting me in my endeavours!!
I'm a member of a kayaking club and that is mighty craic - but I'd like to try other pursuits also.

I've tried the Hillwalking clubs but, to be honest, they're not for me.

Does anyone know of a group that I could join to get me started??

Maybe not exactly what your looking for but if you ever want to try mountain biking check out this club http://www.mbcc.ie/, or this other club based in north cork/limerick who also rent out bikes so you can give it a go without having your own bike http://www.trailriders.ie/

Theres loads of road cycling clubs around with most doing regular group spins including beginner spins, where are u based and i can recommend one.
IMO mountain biking is much more fun tho:)

Also theres cork tri club, http://www.corktri.com/ . They do lots of group training too and are a great club from what i hear.

Heres a link to some outdoor centres in cork http://www.discoveringcork.ie/do/outdoor-cork/outdoor-adventure-centres/

Hope this helps and any questions or info just ask:D

hello miss ellie, I am in the same situation as yourself, Im eager to get out in the air and get involved but have no one interested or in a position to do the same at the moment. Do you mind me asking you more about the hillwalking clubs? I was contemplating going to one myself. What made you feel they werent for you? Would love a heads up. Let me know if you hear of anything else interesting about. ill keep my ears open too!

Might seem obvious but this seems like a pretty good starting place for ye. Try looking at the notice board in Mahers Outdoor shop in Parnell Place, lots of different stuff advertisd there. The Mardyke are running beginners classes for the climbing wall at the moment. Best of luck and enjoy it!
