    Hi Folks,
I'm currently looking to change car and always fancied one of these most likely a 2.0 litre standard model 2004-2007ish depending on price .
From what I've searched already there seems to be a few owners here so have a few questions.
What's the real world mpg of the 2 litre. Realised it changed in 05/06 to a more powerful unit so comments on either is welcome
Is there an mpg difference between Auto and manual. On paper they are supposed to be the same but I'm a bit suspicious.
I've seen a few clean looking 4 or 5 yr old examples on the web with about 100k up on them. Are they a good option or are there likely to be a few bills soon at this mileage.

    Any help/advice is welcome

    Mike

I have a 2.0L auto and it is hard enough on juice. Not too bad on longer journeys but around town (short trips), EUR20 worth of petrol doesn't last more than a few days. You could spend EUR50 a week on fuel without going very far. Other than that it has been very reliable (mechanically speaking), although the auto box has a few gremlins with only 70K (miles) on the clock. Overall a nice car to drive and own, I'd buy another but only a used example (2/3 yr old) at half or a third of the new price. The estate is a better buy than the saloon, just not as many to choose from.

Check out www.isdc.ie if its anything Subaru related they'll
    know.

There very helpful and give you a few pointers too.

You might even pick a well minded car from one of them.

You couldn't actually quantify that for us seems as you own one, as in mpg wise ?

I not really bothered with mpg to be overly fussy about exact figures, given that there are lots of variables. But 25mpg (even less) around town would be the norm. 35mpg+ on a long trip, so an overall average of very low 30's.

Quite good so if those figures are accurate :)

Anything north of 30mpg is good. I dont do much town driving. Besides my diesel 406 has slipped under 40 at this stage so it wont be too painful a fall.
More worried about buying a rare lemon as fixing stuff is way more painful than buying petrol.
Cheers for the info. Posted on ISDC as well but the emphasis there is very much on the >200bhp turbo models so will see if anyone has info on standard Irish/UK models.
    Thanks Mike
