Cheap diesel, or too good to be true?

    Evening all,

My new daily commute takes me down Collins Avenue (in Dublin) onto the Malahide Road and I've noticed this garage (well more like a few pumps really) that seems to do diesel only, but at nearly 10c less than the average.

Anyone know anything about it, or is there a catch? Seems to do a fairly busy trade anyway.

Can't comment on the Dublin one but there's a similar style one in Limerick.

Diesel only, about 5-10c cheaper than the main outlets.

It doesn't have any planning - Limerick Corporation have tried to serve an enforcement notice. The tanks are in breach of the regs. And the owners/directors cannot be traced.

But it does a roaring trade.

That place on Collins Ave is always busy. Plenty of rumour about it, but it's doing well. I've used it a good few times, and nothing wrong with it.

I always use Amber on the old cork road in Limerick for my diesel - its always cheaper than the rest of the service stations in Limerick - currently at 131.95

I would be very wary of any of these back street fuel dealers.

A common rail fuel pump is a costly item to replace.

Ah sure it has to be that laundered stuff, full of bleach and all, you'd rather pay €1.35 to Esso etc:rolleyes:

I've only one rule, never queue to buy fuel, my time is more valuable than sitting for 10-15mins to save a couple of euro on a full tank.

Just an aside, Mount Brown Filling Station sell 20ltr drums of "ahem" heating oil (red) for around €16.
