rally cross suggestions

Hello all, im interested in rallycross any ideas for a start up car for 2011? sumthing maybe i could do a few sprints with aswell........thanks chris

What sort of a budget have you got??
Also need to take into consideration work and maintenance that will need to be done to the car when running it.

thinken bout 2k, my buddy has a 20valve engine was thinking of putting it into a bmw compact! what ya think?

i have a compact wit engine gone so 2k for rest of car, im a mechanic so maintance costs hopefully wont be to high..

Lots of bargains to be had, not too sure what the best cars for rallycross are.
Micras and the like are good for sprints though

The cheapest way to get started is in the stockhatch class. If you want to use the 20V BMW then you're looking at getting into the modified class which is more expensive. There's a whole bunch of cars eligible for stockhatch, but pretty much everyone uses a Peugeot 205 1.6 litre engines. You'll pick one up on done deal for €1500-2000, ready to race. Race entry fees are 200 quid, and you'll need a trailer to transport the car around.

I've just started in it this year and its great craic really, and probably the cheapest way to get started. And with everyone being in basically the same car its very close racing too. thanks for that lad, are the 1.6gti reliable under presure

Yep agreed with lightning. I haven't seen any major mechanical problems with them at all, the main expense is panel damage from off road excursions!
