Evening wedding in Dublin

    Hi All,

First time post as i have been reading the advice on the forums, but need some more.

My fiancee and i have been looking into venues in Dublin as we dont want people spending a fortune on accomodation outside of Dublin. We are hoping to have a sit down evening dinner and party afterwards with a DJ. We have looked into Fallon and Byrne, Beaufield Mews and The Schoolhouse Hotel. While these are all very nice, F&B and BM close at 1am and that's a little early for us to stop the party.

We are having about 120 people and hope to have our wedding day early in the summer. We will be having a civil cermeony followed by lunch with the close family and then the dinner/party after that.

If anybody has an idea of a venue that would stay open till 3 or so, have a decent smoking area, and isn't going to break the bank in terms of price for food/wine for the night i would be very interested.

If anyone knows of ideas for alternative venues, such as castle/large house rental for a night or anything else, that would be great.

    Thanks a mill.

    P.

    Hi,

I came across this website when looking for venues. You might find something of interest. I liked how it gives a breakdown of each venue under most essential headings. Best of luck

I got married in Dublin in 2010 and I couldn't find a venue (hotel or restuarant) that would keep the bar open past 1.30am.

Would you consider club function rooms i.e. a rugby club, rowing club, athletics club etc? Most would have a fully equipped bar.

You'd have to organise the whole thing yourself including catering and probably furniture hire but you might have more flexibility in terms of closing times.

There's a house on Quinns Road in Shankill called Rosedale House that caters for weddings. Don't know much about it, just walk the dog by it occasionally.

the latest I've ever played a gig in Dublin is 2am. The further west you go that increases to 3am and even later. A dj set from 9pm to 2am is 5hrs and in my opinion is loads of time. The venue may allow 'drinking up' time after that until 2.30 or 3am. A friend of a friend had their wedding in a members club on stephens green but the groom was a member of another club in australia that had links with it. The music went on quite late too.

Hotels will allow residents to continue drinking in the residents bar until silly o'clock, I was still drinking at the Russel Court Hotel at Xmas at 7AM !
