Redness, irritation...

I've been getting irritated and itching sensations in my eyes the last few months, and now more recently they've started getting very red, like bloodshot except it doesn't go away. I don't have much money but I really need to get it sorted. I've been advised by my mother to just go into specsavers and ask for an eye check, but since I don't have any noticeable trouble seeing, just with the condition of my eyes, would it make more sense to go to an optician? I mean I assume specsavers are just looking to sell glasses, and I could end up paying out for specs when instead I need eye drops or something. I'm not looking for medical advice, I'm just not clear on where I should go to get some.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if anyone has been to specsavers and has an idea of how much they cost, that would be brilliant too. Thanks :)

Specsavers are optometrist's so there is no reason not to go there. To be honest if you need any sort of prescription drops you will have to see a GP to get a script. If I were you I would go to an optometrist and they can advise you from there. You may need drops or you may need to see a Dr.

I found that if I ever had itchy or irritated/dry eyes brolene is great for it :) Pop a few drops in and my eyes stopped reacting straight away. Blink is also good!

Any update on how you got on?

I was in the pharmacy the other day getting a prescription and mentioned my eyes to the pharmacist. She advised trying Artelac for a while, it's non prescription and so far it does help. I figure I'll take it for a while and see if after a while I dont need it anymore. If I end up needing it for more than a month I'll get in touch with specsavers. Thanks for all the replies they were all really helpful :)
