Toyota Yaris ABS light

    Hi folks

Bit of a strange one, wifes 01 Yaris. The ABS light flickers on as
she's driving it every now and again. Doesnt seem to effect the car(but
i'm guessing its not a good thing!).

I've checked the car over and it has rear drums not all round discs so i
was wondering why would the ABS light flick on since i thought you'd need
all round discs on a car to have it.

Or is this light just a Check Engine Light. Any tips or information would be great. Thanks.

does it come on at any time or just while braking?

    sound like a sensor.

also quite normal for a car with just front discs to have ABS :D

Cheers for that, i honestly didnt think a bog standard Yaris
    would have it.

I'll have a good check of brake sensors/pad change even.
The Mrs is found of braking at the last minute!
Scares the crap out of me. :pac:

theres a way to check the voltage of the sensors i think, if you have a multimeter. not quite sure how, maybe someone else knows the details

This happened me before and the cause was low brake fluid level... Try topping up the brake fluid, apparantly the reason why the light comes on nad off is because when you brake, the brake fluid shifts around a bit in the reservoir in the engine bay and the sensor in there comes on for a second when it is no longer immersed in brake fluid for a second...
